COVID-19 weekly writing #5

Dear readers, things have been looking up recently. My grades are improving a lot in school and school ends next monday. My birthday happened on May 25 which was memorial day so there was no school. I have been playing on my xbox with my friends to keep me sane and have some social interactions. I like staying safe and having fun.

The virus is becoming more lethal but many companies and frontline workers are working even harder to stop the spread. CVS is opening drive thru testing stations and I like how tests are becoming more available. We all need to support the frontline workers and have more researchers trying to find the cure. Some people don’t agree with the government and are not wearing masks and those people need to listen. As a community we can all stop the spread if we stay home and don’t go outside unless we need to.

COVID-19 Weekly Writing #4

The last few weeks have been really busy. Quarantine has been extended until may 31st but I am used to how life is now. We have been using curbside delivery for groceries and we have been having a lot more pizza lately. We watch a lot of movies and listen to my brother sing at night. School has become a little easier but we still get a lot of work. I think that the world will get through this and we will recover. I hope you stay safe and have a good week!

Dear readers, this week was different from last week . We tried out Zoom in school and had conferences everyday. My brother and I played outside a lot more because the weather was amazing. The U.S leads the world in coronavirus cases so I have a risk of getting it and we get a lot of emergency alerts for healthcare workers to help. I just want to see my friends again this year. COVID-19 Weekly Writing #2

Dear readers, spring break was very different this year. My dad had planned a trip to Las Vegas for my Mom’s birthday but because of the virus we couldn’t go. Instead of going on the trip , we all had fun at home with video games. I also dug up some old board games and made some new songs. Anyways that’s all I have to say because I just wanted to check in. Remember to stay safe, stay 6 feet apart from people, and stay creative!

COVID-19 weekly writing #1

The coronavirus affected my school life. School is now online and we have more time to sleep. We have a little less work than actual school and I can work in my room. The sad thing is that there is no” track and field “and any more after school activities. School is still fun but not without other people.

The coronavirus also affected us because now we have very little supplies like toilet paper. Hand sanitizer and soap is very expensive now. We can’t even go outside because we are self quarantined. I feel sick and lonely so I call my friends. I know that staying inside is the best way not to get infected but I really want friends over again.

My thoughts on garageband and how I made my song festival.

Most people who use garageband usually mess around a lot but it can actually be used seriously and you can make amazing stuff. Before you start jamming out though you might want to download all of the sound packs because then you have more live loops and alchemy synth sounds.

I think one of the best features is the sampler keyboard because if you want to make a song but you don’t have that sound effect or little melody you want then you can record it and sample it. It works great but make sure that there is no background noise. One day I wanted to sample saria’s song from the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time but my brother was screaming in the background the recording got ruined. Another cool feature I want to talk about is the alchemy synth and live loops. With the Alchemy synth you can choose from a bunch of keyboard sounds and lets you play the sound you chose on a virtual piano to make music. The live loops are sounds that have been made by apple that you can put in your songs but if you find a green live loop then you can find an alchemy synth sound and the live loop to be played as that sound.

Now I will tell you how I made my song festival.I started by choosing the live loop festival mallets and put it into the song. Then I found Festival kick for the beat of the song and added a latin pop drum loop. For the buildup to the drop I just found a snare buildup live loop and all that was left was the drop. For the drop I made a separate instrument that was the hammered piano sound from the alchemy synth and then I dragged the festival mallets loop from before to make it sound like how it is.

Springfield

Today we went on an overnight school trip to Springfield IL and I want tell you 2 reasons you should go to Springfield.

1. You get to see and be in many places that are important to the history of the United States. You get to go to Lincoln’s home and see so many antique items. They even have the same pots that the Lincoln family used to go to the bathroom in.

2. There are so many places to relax and have fun. On the trip we
stayed at the Comfort Suites and it is one of the best hotels I have been to. There is also the golden coral which is a really good place to eat. After you see all the sights you can go have a great meal and rest.

Those are 2 reasons why you should go to Springfield. I had so much fun and I was really inspired by Lincoln’s life and I want you to go and experience the place for yourself.

If you rub the nose of the statue at Lincoln’s tomb, it will give you good luck.
